Facilities
Bedrooms
We’ve got plenty. 4 double bedrooms in the house, with another in the separate studio.
The master suite opens out directly onto the garden, with enough space to do your morning yoga at the foot of the bed.
There are 2 double bedrooms and a further children’s room with a bunk bed big enough for a full sized adult or a small herd of kids.
The separate studio has another double with ensuite and optional sofa beds in it’s lounge area.
Living space
The living room window is one of the focal points of this house. It’s big. Floor to ceiling and provides a fantastic amount of natural light making this room a great place to hang out with friends or family.
It also has the biggest sofas in Dorset, meaning you can seat a sports team round the fire on a chilly evening or round the telly for an afternoon box set binge.
Kitchen
The heart of the home. This kitchen is equipped with more than you’re going to need. You can cook things, toast things and even clean things if you like. There’s a dishwasher, huge fridge freezer, built in hob, fryer and grill. Oh, and did we mention wine rack, coffee machine and separate soft drink fridge?
The dining table in this open plan space will seat 10-12 people, or if you prefer, you can sit 3 at the island breakfast bar. There’s even room for a makeshift dance floor if you fancy cutting some shapes.
Bathrooms
Who doesn’t like a good bathroom? We reckon you’ll find one you like here.
The master suite has a generous shower and a jacuzzi bath that you can actually watch telly from. That’s right. There’s a TV in the bathroom.
The family bathroom is equally well kitted out but you’ll have to settle for the more traditional, media free bathing suite.
There’s an extra WC facility for quick and convenient pit stops and an further ensuite in the self contained studio room outside.
Garden
The garden surrounds the house on all sides, providing loads of places to explore. The expansive decking area is ideal for outdoor lounging, dining or sunset watching. The lawn is vast enough to play tag, croquet or a simple game of catch.
Keep an eye out for the local wildlife. There are often deer and an array of avian visitors as well as the common woodland critters.
Studio
This old garage was converted into a self contained living space, complete with living room, cooking facilities, electric heating and a double bedroom with ensuite. The sofa also doubles as extra double and single beds! A perfect little place for any independent teenagers, grandparents or the couple that decided to join the group getaway at the last minute…
Some technical assistance
Here are some helpful little guides on how to work some of the facilities in the house. It’s not rocket science, but like anything, there’s a knack to it, and we thought we’d share it with our guests.
OK, so… a quick note on how to use the Jacuzzi bath:
If you would like to use the really cool jet bubbles function on our Jacuzzi bath, make sure to fill the water until the level is above the jets at the back of the bath.
If the water level is too low, you won’t get those lovely bubbles!
See this image for the correct water level.
See this image for incorrect water level.
Water too low = no bubbles :(
Also, quick note: make sure that the knob/lever circled in this picture, is pulled up before using the bath. If it isn’t, you will find that there’s no water. Which makes for a terrible bath!
Okay, so this isn’t technical but…
Accessing the House
We are aware that occasionally our guests may have special access requirements. Because of this we thought it would be useful to share some access details with you before your stay.
The front and back doors to the main house are accessed via steps. The back door is only 2 steps which makes it somewhat easier to enter here if you need to pop a ramp down or have difficulty with too many steps.
Getting from our driveway to the patio (which leads to the living room patio doors and back door) can be via a couple of small steps or towards the top of the slope of the driveway where the ground levels meet.
It’s worth mentioning that our driveway is all loose shingles which might be tricky if you use a wheelchair. It’s definitely worth getting one of your fellow guests to give you a push!
The converted garage is probably the easiest part of the property to access. There’s a slight lip to the main door, (as you can see in the picture here) and if necessary, you can always enter via the patio doors which open up nice and wide and provide direct access from the driveway straight into the annex living room (see picture below).
